Coffee at the Museum

  • The History Museum of Burke County 201 West Meeting Street Morganton, NC, 28655 United States (map)

Our November”s speaker is Elizabeth Garrou Furr. She will speak on the history of Alba-Waldensian, Inc., a family enterprise; its place in Valdese, Burke County, and the industrial revolution in America. Elizabeth brings a unique perspective as the daughter of CEO, Louis Garrou.. Her perspective of Alba-Waldensian history is different from that found on the internet..She will include not only researched and documented facts, but her personal memories. She wants this documented history to be not only a tribute to her beloved father, but a special tribute to the families who worked at Alba for many years.

We encourage everyone who attends to see the textile exhibition, curated by Jimmy Warlick to honor his mother who worked in the industry for many years.
