On Thursday, April 25th at 10:00 am, Laurie Johnston, the Curator of the North Carolina Room at the Morganton Public Library, will share the 100-year history of the library and its evolution to the library system of Burke County. She will highlight the North Carolina Room and its importance in collecting and preserving our history and the family histories of our citizens.
Ms. Johnston is a native of Burke County and grew up in the Drexel community. She graduated from East Burke High and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Elon University, and a master’s degree in library science from Appalachian State. She taught middle school for several years in Burke County before becoming the Curator of North Carolina Room in 2014.
